Get Involved
Our goal is that our residents will never be homeless again. We could not possibly achieve that goal without the strong support of the community. We need YOU. We need your time, your talent, and your donations. Please keep reading to see how you can get involved.

2. There are many different volunteer opportunities for both individuals and groups
There are many volunteer opportunities available at the Lake County Haven. Below is a listing of a few such opportunities. If you have a unique talent or skill that you’d like to provide to the Haven, just contact us. Chances are that we need it!
Drivers: We need people to drive residents to job interviews, drop children off at daycare, and bring people to doctor’s visits.
Donation Sorters: We need people to help us sort thorough our donations and organize the items so that our residents can easily find what they need.
Fundraising: We need volunteers to help plan and organize events such as holiday events, our spring fundraiser, and our holiday boutique. These events are hosted by our Women’s Auxiliary…a great way to have fun, make new friends, and support a great cause.
Babysitters: Can you come over to play? There are many children here who would love your company while their moms are busy with counseling, job training, school, or work.
Tutors: The children at The Haven often have fallen behind their classmates scholastically. You can help them catch up to their classmates and improve their grades. Many women at The Haven work towards their General Education Diploma (GED) and need help with their basic reading and math skills.
Grocery Shoppers: Volunteers are needed to shop every week for groceries for the shelter.
Professional Services: Occasionally there is a need for professionals to offer services to Haven residents or to the agency.
Maintenance: The Haven needs volunteers to perform various types of maintenance work so that our shelter remains in good condition. This may include cleaning, painting, plumbing repairs, etc.
Computer Skills: You can use your computer knowledge to help the residents learn basic computer skills.
If you belong to a group that is looking for a project, there are many additional opportunities available such as Wish List drives, larger projects at the shelter, and conducting special events to benefit The Haven such as a bake sale, car wash, etc.
The Lake County Haven volunteer application is available here and the authorization for a background check is available here. All pages must be completed and signed in order to be eligible for consideration.
